Covering a different event today I noticed these two boys playing by an Obama campaign sign, and thought it was worth a photo.

I was assigned to cover Barack Obama's campaign stop at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh on the eve of Pennsylvania's primary election. My assignment was to capture the event on video, but as usual I couldn't resist shooting a few frames for myself.

Spc. Jason Kazarick


A white dove flies over friends and family members of Spc. Jason Kazarick's at his funeral on Friday afternoon at the Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church in Plum. Kazarick, the Plum/Oakmont man was killed in Iraq.

Justin Merriman, an award-winning photojournalist with the Tribune-Review, has spent more than a decade traveling the world to cover politics, wars, natural disasters and civil unrest. Merriman graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in 2000 with a degree in English Writing. In 2009, the university awarded him its prestigious Alumnus of Distinction award. Merriman lives in Oakmont with his fiancé, Stephanie Strasburg.
