Beach Party


Goyang a 12-year-old orangutan at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium enjoys some bubbles as the orangutans celebrated Summer with a beach party on Friday afternoon, July 1, 2011. The event kicked off Eat'n Park family week at the zoo which will feature a different animal with fun games, crafts, and treats and a chance for visitors to talk with the keepers who care for each family. Eat'n Park Family week runs through July 10.

Justin Merriman, an award-winning photojournalist with the Tribune-Review, has spent more than a decade traveling the world to cover politics, wars, natural disasters and civil unrest. In 2011, Merriman was honored with the top photography award from the Military Reporters and Editors Assoc. for his work in Iraq & Haiti. Merriman graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in 2000 with a degree in English Writing. In 2009, the university awarded him its prestigious Alumnus of Distinction award. Merriman lives in Oakmont with his fiancĂ©, Stephanie Strasburg.
